As the carrier of product information display, food label plays an important role in guiding consumers to choose and buy and ensuring food safety. China's food safety law stipulates that imported food, food additives and food-related products meet the national food safety standards, and shall be responsible for the contents of labels and instructions. According to the customs regulations, importers shall be responsible for examining whether the Chinese labels of their imported prepackaged food conform to the relevant laws, administrative regulations and national food safety standards. Those that fail to pass the examination and verification shall not be imported.
Imported pre-packaged food refers to food that is pre-quantitatively packaged or produced in packaging materials and containers, including pre-quantitatively packaged food and food that is pre-quantitatively produced in packaging materials and containers and has uniform quality or volume identification within a certain limit. The Chinese label of imported food refers to the words, graphics, symbols and all the description on the food package. Chinese label of imported pre-packaged food includes: name of food, list of ingredients (raw materials and auxiliary materials), net content, production date, shelf life, storage conditions, origin, nutrition label, contact information of importer and distributor, etc. If the food name reflects the true nature of the food, use the name specified in the standard; The list of ingredients shall be arranged in the descending order of the amount added, indicating the amount or content added. Nutrition labels include a nutrition facts list with a header, mandatory labeling of energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, sodium content and NRV percentage.
The Chinese label is in accordance with GB 7718-2004 "general rules for pre-packaged food labeling" and relevant provisions of food safety standards. The font is clear, eye-catching and durable, which should make it easy for consumers to recognize and read when buying. The text is easy to understand, has the scientific basis, must not be false, exaggerates, marks the feudal superstition and so on. If the product has won the prize, the certificate should be submitted, and organic food should provide the certificate of organic product certification. Any unqualified labels shall not be imported.
